Love takes the central place in the world classical literature. Prosper Merimee, William Shakespeare, Nurmahammed Andalib, Omar Khayyam – all of them had a sad love story that was reflected in their immortal lines. The Russian Drama Theatre named after A.S.Pushkin in Ashgabat performed a massive play “Ah, black eyes.” The title of the performance gives you a lively imagination of eastern beauties, modest and sensual Peri – beautiful woman, who could excite and conquer the heart of any man by a mere glance from under thick long eyelashes. The narration of the dervish about the beautiful Aisha, doomed to a difficult choice and a thorny life path, is supported by examples of love dramas from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and “Leyli and Mejnun” by Andalib. The imperishable lines of the Eastern wise man Omar Khayyam sound like a golden frame of the theatrical performance.Altyn ASHIROVA
According to Ashyr Rahmanov, stage director, this performance can be called a unique experience. “For the first time we created a play in which the properties are missed almost completely. The actors themselves, who read Omar Khayyam’s lines, as well as the stage scenery that creates a sense of being outside the time and out of space for the viewer and thereby help to perceive what is happening are the background and the center of the whole narration. Because love is not subject to geography, the change of epochs – it is eternal and beautiful.”
The audience really understands and responds vividly to all that is shown on the stage. Someone cannot tear an admiring eyes away from the beauty of Aisha, someone barely restrains tears, grieving about the fate of Romeo and Juliet, and someone almost screams with Mejnun: “Leyliiiiiii!”
There is no indifferent person. And that’s why the hall gives a standing ovation to actors when they take a bow. And the hall is full by this incredibly strong, deep and sincere Love.
