Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Hojamyrat Geldimyradov met with World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala during his visit to Geneva on April 9.

The parties discussed current interaction and possible forms of further cooperation between Turkmenistan and the WTO, including issues related to the process of Turkmenistan's accession to the organization, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.

The WTO Director-General praised Turkmenistan's efforts and demonstrated professionalism in matters related to WTO accession. Okonjo-Iweala expressed gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan - President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov - for their strategic support in this area.

The meeting confirmed mutual readiness to further deepen cooperation within the framework of measures taken by Turkmenistan on the path to integration into the multilateral trading system.
