Key trends of economic development of Uzbekistan, the progress of large-scale socio-economic reforms, the achieved results and promising areas for further development were discussed at the meeting of Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov with the delegation of the International Monetary Fund led by head of the IMF mission to Uzbekistan Yassir Abdih on April 5. UzDaily reports on the specific issues that were raised during the constructive dialogue between the parties.

The positive dynamics of growth of gross domestic product, including GDP per capita, as well as the sustainability of macroeconomic indicators, including the stability of the inflation rate, were considered. Particular attention was paid to the high potential of the services sector - in particular, market services, tourism, information technology and the financial sector.

The issues of industrial development, budget policy and medium-term budget forecasts, as well as progress in the agricultural sector, including land relations reform aimed at the rational use of agricultural land, were also touched upon. The range of issues discussed included the results and prospects for the implementation of infrastructure projects within the framework of public-private partnerships, further development of energy and the transition to a "green" economy with an emphasis on increasing energy efficiency and sustainable growth.

It is reported that the IMF representatives expressed interest in Uzbekistan's steps in improving tax and customs administration, privatization and corporate transformation processes, as well as progress towards the country's accession to the World Trade Organization. Particular emphasis was placed on supporting small and medium-sized businesses as the driving force of the national economy. The meeting ended with an expression of mutual readiness to continue constructive interaction to improve the effectiveness of joint work on all issues raised.
