Hungarian Museum of Natural History: Balance of Architecture and Natural Landscape

For the Hungarian Museum of Natural History - the third in a row of the oldest museum of Europe - they plan to build a new original building in the city park. Its project, presented by the BIG architectural bureau, can become a real miracle and an example for other museums in the world. Architects developed a building design in the form of a man -made hill, which will contain not only a rich collection of museum exhibits, but also allow you to take a walk along specially equipped roof paths. They will continue the city park, in which this sample combination of functionality, environmental friendliness and innovative ideas about modern buildings and their roles in the urban environment will organically fit.
The building is a design of three crossed “ribbons”, which smoothly rises from the ground, forming a green roof with which a panoramic view of the park and the city will open. Inside the building, exhibition halls, laboratories, offices and public spaces will be placed. According to hi-tech.mail, the facade of the museum will be partially glass. Large windows will allow the natural light to penetrate inside, providing a visual connection between the exposure and the surrounding nature. The green roof will help adjust the temperature inside the building and collect rain water. Solar panels on the roof will produce electricity for the needs of the museum.
The internal space of the museum is designed taking into account modern requirements for storage and demonstration of exhibits. Optimal conditions for the preservation of collections and conducting scientific research will be created here. In the center, there will be a lobby, from where it will be possible to get into the wings diverging by the rays: five for permanent exposure and one for temporary exhibitions and events. At the upper level, the library and cafe will be arranged, in the basement - the educational center.
Particular attention is paid to the accessibility of the museum for all categories of visitors. Silent rises and wide passages will provide comfortable movement to people with disabilities. The project of the new Hungarian Museum is an example of how modern architecture can harmoniously combine with nature. The new museum promises to become not just a repository of exhibits, but a real center for the study of nature and environmental education.
