Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in a mass cycling race on World Health Day
World Health Day, April 7, was celebrated in Turkmenistan with a mass cycling race, in which President Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part.
The sports and health event started in the southern part of Ashgabat, where the Health Path, laid in the foothills of the Kopetdag, begins. In the morning, members of the Government, heads of the Mejlis, ministries and industry departments, military and law enforcement agencies, the capital's administration, public organizations, the media, and university rectors gathered here. Among the participants in the sports event were representatives of the Khalk Maslakhaty, the national parliament, as well as heads and employees of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in our country.
Among those gathered were young pupils of the Döwletliler köşgi Palace, students of the Young Olympians Training School and comprehensive schools, athletes of the Turkmenistan national cycling team, student youth, and representatives of the public.
Having given the start to the mass cycling race, the head of state led a column of its participants, who followed the route that ran from the Health Path along the avenues of Ashgabat.
During the event, the head of state instructed the relevant vice-premiers to ensure constant control over the work carried out within the framework of the National Forestry Program, further improvement and greening of the capital, maintaining environmental well-being, and creating conditions for citizens to engage in sports and physical education.
The cycling race finished in the city center, near the Rukhiyet Palace.
Addressing the participants of the cycling event, the head of state emphasized the need for comprehensive work to further involve broad sections of the population, especially young people, in regular physical education and sports, and to strengthen the principles of a healthy and active lifestyle in society. At the same time, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the development of children's and youth sports as an integral part of the upbringing of the younger generation, TDH reports.
On the occasion of World Health Day, mass cycling races took place in the city of Arkadag and in all velayats of the country.
Thematic conferences, exhibitions, educational, physical education, health and cultural events, celebrations, and sports competitions were also timed to this wonderful holiday.
