The European Union's SECCA project provides support to Turkmenistan in enhancing energy efficiency

In March 2025, the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan (SEIT) of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan hosted a training seminar on the topic "Studying the specifics of introducing innovative energy efficiency technologies in the production sectors of the economy, taking into account the climatic conditions of Turkmenistan". The training seminar was organized by SEIT, the European Union project "Sustainable Energy Connectivity in Central Asia" (SECCA), and the UNDP project "Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated Green Urban Development in Ashgabat and Avaza".

The event was attended by specialists from the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, faculty and students of SEIT, specialists from the Scientific and Production Center "Renewable Energy Sources" under SEIT, key experts of the SECCA project, and specialists and international consultants of the UNDP project.

The aim of the training seminar was to study international experience in the legal regulation of energy conservation and energy efficiency improvement.

Participants were acquainted with the activities of the European Union's SECCA project and the UNDP project "Sustainable Cities" in the area of sustainable energy development, supporting the transition to renewable energy sources (RES) and improving energy efficiency, waste management and the possibility of using waste as RES. Additionally, the possibility of cooperation between SEIT, the European Union's SECCA project, and the UNDP project in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency development was discussed.

Seminar participants received information on the experience of developed countries in creating a regulatory framework for the development of these sectors.
