A unique Martian meteorite will be presented at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai Prefecture, Japan, marking its first public viewing for a wide audience.

This meteorite, known as the "Martian Rock" was discovered by a Japanese research expedition in Antarctica in the year 2000. Comparable in size to a rugby ball and weighing approximately 13 kilograms, it is one of the largest known meteorites originating from Mars to have reached Earth tens of thousands of years ago.

The meteorite has undergone thorough examination, and its Martian origin has been confirmed through the analysis of inert gases contained within it.

The Head of Public Relations at the National Institute of Polar Research in Tokyo, where the meteorite is stored, expressed hope that this exhibit will inspire people to contemplate the wonders of the universe and our planet, similar to the impact of the "Moon Rock" at the Osaka Expo in 1970.

The meteorite will be displayed in the Japan Pavilion until the exposition's conclusion in October 2025.
