In recent years, airlines, particularly those in Asia, have begun to implement stringent restrictions on the carriage of power banks (portable external batteries) with the aim of mitigating the risk of fire.

Effective March 1st, airlines in the Republic of Korea mandated that passengers keep their charging devices readily accessible and not place them in overhead baggage compartments.

Taiwanese carriers EVA Air and China Airlines have completely prohibited the use of power banks on their flights, permitting only their transportation in carry-on baggage.

Other companies, such as Thai Airways, Scoot, and Singapore Airlines, have also tightened regulations, requiring passengers to keep their power banks with them and not stow them in overhead baggage compartments.
