Saudi Arabia is actively implementing new technologies to improve service quality at its airports. A significant step in this direction is the introduction of 152 automated electronic gates at airports in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and Medina. These reliable electronic gates significantly reduce passenger wait times.

These gates enable travelers to pass through security without the need for interaction with personnel, thus expediting the boarding process. Passengers can simply scan their boarding passes and proceed through the automated gates, making the process more convenient and efficient. Furthermore, automation helps to alleviate the workload of airport staff, allowing them to concentrate on more complex tasks, such as assisting passengers with special needs or resolving unforeseen situations.

This initiative was implemented by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority in partnership with the General Directorate of Passports and Matarat Holding.

The electronic gates have been installed at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, and Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina.
