Aleksandr Turchin appointed new Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus

On March 10, 2025, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko appointed Aleksandr Turchin as the new Prime Minister of the country. Turchin, who previously served as Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee, was appointed to this position in accordance with the Constitution of Belarus, which requires the prior consent of the House of Representatives.On March 10, 2025, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko appointed Aleksandr Turchin as the new Prime Minister of the country. On March 10, 2025, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko appointed Aleksandr Turchin as the new Prime Minister of the country. Turchin, who previously served as Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee, was appointed to this position in accordance with the Constitution of Belarus, which requires the prior consent of the House of Representatives.

Aleksandr Turchin, 49, graduated from the Belarusian State Economic University and the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Belarus. His career began in 1997 as a store director, after which he worked in tax and financial structures. In his first statements in his new post, Turchin emphasized that he would focus on sustainable and balanced development of the country. He also noted the importance of increasing the well-being of citizens and improving the quality of life. The new government, according to him, will work to ensure economic growth balanced with other macroeconomic indicators.

Roman Golovchenko, previously served as Prime Minister, was appointed Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of Belarus.
