An important document has been signed as part of the implementation of the Trans-Caspian Fiber Optic Cable Line project. The document confirms the agreement for the construction of underwater fiber optic communication lines along the bottom of the Caspian Sea, as reported by AZERTAC.

The Prime Ministers of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, Ali Asadov and Olzhas Bektenov, respectively, as well as the heads of AzerTelecom and Kazakhtelecom, Emil Masimov and Bagdat Musin, affixed their signatures.

The Trans-Caspian Fiber Optic Cable Line project is part of the broader "Digital Silk Way" initiative and aims to create a high-speed digital corridor between Europe and Asia through the territory of Azerbaijan.

The 380 km long fiber optic communication line along the bottom of the Caspian Sea, which will pass through the territories of various countries, including Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan, will provide high-bandwidth data transmission, as well as high-speed internet connection up to 400 terabits/s.

The construction will be carried out in several stages, including the assessment of coastal areas and the seabed, the design and production of high-quality, durable cables, as well as their transportation and installation. AzerTelecom and Kazakhtelecom plan to complete the construction by the end of 2026.
