The Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports on the meeting held on March 1 of this year between head of the department Laziz Kudratov and a delegation led by Minister of Trade of Afghanistan Nuruddin Azizi, who is on a visit to the Termez International Trade Center in the Surkhandarya region. During the meeting, the parties reviewed the current state of Uzbek-Afghan trade and economic relations and exchanged views on the prospects for their development. In this regard, specific measures are outlined to increase trade turnover to $3 billion.

It is reported that along with trade, further steps were also considered to build up mutually beneficial cooperation and cooperation ties in the fields of agriculture, textile, pharmaceutical, food and mining industries. During the visit, negotiations were organized in the B2B format with the participation of about 60 entrepreneurs from each side, where business circles had the opportunity to establish new connections, discuss practical aspects of implementing joint projects and trade contracts.

Earlier, on February 22-23, a delegation from Afghanistan headed by Acting Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Ghani Baradar visited Uzbekistan on a two-day working visit, where he held talks with Prime Minister of the Republic Abdulla Aripov. During the meeting, it was noted that in recent years, bilateral trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation has demonstrated stable dynamics. In particular, the opening of the Termez International Trade Center last year made a significant contribution to the development of trade relations. During the talks, the parties discussed in detail the prospects for further expansion of partnership, paying special attention to interaction in the areas of trade, economics, energy, transport and other areas.
