Moscow hosts 20th anniversary Ramadan Tent Opening
Moscow has inaugurated the 20th anniversary "Ramadan Tent" at Poklonnaya Gora (2B Minskaya Street). This was announced on the project's official website.
This year, the project is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and is held under the motto "Memory is stronger than time".
The solemn event was attended by representatives of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, the State Duma, ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary from embassies of Arab-Muslim countries, public figures, and entrepreneurs.
The cultural and educational program of the "Ramadan Tent" included creative performances, video presentations highlighting the project's main theme. A key element of the program was the reading of authentic front-line letters.
The guest of honor for the evening was labor veteran Faniya Bagautdinova. The hero of the first day was chosen to be World War II veteran Rizautdin Hazrat Basyrov, who served as an imam of the Moscow Cathedral Mosque for 30 years. Guests were able to learn about his life and work.
Deputy Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Russia, Rushan Hazrat Abbyasov, emphasized that Ramadan is a unique month that promotes not only the spiritual purification of believers but also the unity of people, as evidenced by the "Ramadan Tent" project.
The Ramadan Tent is an annual cultural and charitable project organized by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Moscow with the support of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation and the Moscow Government. Throughout 2 the month of Ramadan, charitable iftars (evening meals for Muslims during Ramadan) will be held. In addition to dinners in the tent, there are plans for daily distribution of 1,200 iftar boxes on the street, as well as over 1,000 in communities across the city.
The evenings will be organized by approximately 10 countries, including Turkmenistan. As part of the daily cultural program, guests will be able to learn about the history and traditions of each of the organizing states. A chess tournament for adults and children is also planned within the project.
