Turkmen-Turkish parliamentary dialogue reaches new level
As part of a working visit to Ankara, the Turkmen delegation led by Chairperson of the Mejlis Dunyagozel Gulmanova held meetings in a narrow and expanded format with Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey Numan Kurtulmush on February 25.
During the meetings, the importance of the adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution on the initiative of Turkmenistan on the proclamation of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust was emphasized. The Turkmen side expressed gratitude to Turkey for supporting this proposal.
Turkmenistan highly values inter-parliamentary relations with Turkey and is ready to further develop them in all areas, Dunyagozel Gulmanova said.
During the talks, the importance of intensifying the work of parliamentary friendship groups, interaction between specialized committees, young deputies and women parliamentarians, and joint events was emphasized, the Mejlis website reports.
Then Kurtulmush and Gulmanova held a joint press conference, at which the meetings were described as extremely productive and constructive.
It was noted that the visit of the speaker of the Turkmen Parliament is taking place in Ankara simultaneously with a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation and the council on education between the two countries, and this demonstrates the importance attached to relations between Turkmenistan and Turkey.
