An interdepartmental meeting aimed at optimizing customs processes and stimulating foreign trade was held at the central office of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan on Saturday, February 22. Representatives of the customs service, railway and road transport agencies, the Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan, leading transport and logistics companies, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, as well as customs brokers gathered there.

The main topic of the meeting was the simplification of customs procedures for business. Representatives of the customs service spoke about new measures that will help speed up trade. Among them are preliminary electronic declaration of imported goods and obtaining the status of an Authorized Economic Operator, which gives companies engaged in foreign trade a number of simplifications when going through customs procedures.

The meeting also discussed how international carriers can use modern technologies and digital systems to inform customs in advance. Customs representatives explained the rules for processing goods exported from Turkmenistan, including processing at the border based on permits from government agencies.

The meeting participants unanimously noted the importance of strengthening interdepartmental cooperation and constructive dialogue between customs, regulatory and law enforcement agencies and representatives of the business community to achieve maximum efficiency in the field of customs administration and assistance to foreign economic activity.
