TASS, one of Russia's leading news agencies, has been granted the right to host the 19th General Assembly of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) in St. Petersburg in June 2025.

This decision was made unanimously at the OANA Executive Committee meeting in Kuala Lumpur, which emphasizes TASS's high standing in the international news community. OANA Secretary General Zaman Rezahan noted that this decision demonstrates confidence in TASS and its ability to organize the event at a high level.

Mikhail Gusman, First Deputy Director General of TASS, assured participants that the agency would ensure the General Assembly is held at the highest possible level, providing participants with the opportunity to meet with leading Russian politicians and public figures.

The Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), founded in 1961 under the auspices of UNESCO, brings together over 40 news agencies from 35 countries, making it the largest media organization in the world. The General Assembly will be an important event for discussing current issues in information policy and cooperation between countries in the region.
