An article dedicated to the "International Year of Peace and Trust" in Turkmenistan was published in the Italian newspaper "Giornale Diplomatico" by Secretary-General Domenico Palmeri and geopolitical analyst, Professor of the Institute of Italy for Asia (ISIA) Fabio Indeo.

The article was published with the support of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Italian Republic.

It states that the decision of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to declare 2025 the "International Year of Peace and Trust" is a continuation of the fundamental principle of Turkmenistan's foreign policy, based on permanent neutrality. For 12 months, the country will promote a series of solemn initiatives and events so that the international community can appreciate Turkmenistan's contribution to the creation of a regional security system based on stability.

The authors focused on the unanimous adoption by the UN General Assembly of a resolution, proposed by Turkmenistan, declaring 2025 the "International Year of Peace and Trust". It is symbolic that this recognition coincides with the thirtieth anniversary of the adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution recognizing permanent neutrality as a key principle of Turkmenistan's foreign policy, as well as the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.

The article notes that adherence to the principle of neutrality also contributed to the opening in 2007 in Ashgabat of the Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia, and Turkmenistan's diplomatic activity led in 2024 to the adoption of a UN resolution proclaiming Central Asia a zone of peace, trust and cooperation.
