In connection with the transfer of the status of the capital of the Turkic world from the Turkmen city of Anau to the Kazakh city of Aktau in 2025, a TURKSOY delegation visited this city and held productive meetings there. This was announced by TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Rayev at a meeting with the Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva.

"We met with the governor, mayor and leading figures of culture and art. We inspected the venues for events and evaluated the program. We are continuing preparations for the opening of the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World, which will take place on April 5, expecting broad participation from the countries of the Turkic world. We look forward to the fact that more than 300 artists will gather at the opening ceremony in Aktau. The opening ceremony, which we will hold in the historical ancient theater on the coast of the Caspian Sea, will remain in the memory for many years. Immediately after the opening, we will organize many events together with you that will enrich the cultural and artistic life of the city of Aktau" Sultan Rayev stated.

The TURKSOY Secretary General also emphasized that Aktau is a special city that stands out for its historical and natural beauties, noting: "Aktau occupies a unique place among the cultural capitals that we have announced earlier, since it is the first city located on the coast of the Caspian Sea. From a geographical point of view, it is the center of the Turkic world. We want to raise awareness of the high tourist potential of the region and introduce the whole world to Aktau".

During the past year, ancient Anau in Turkmenistan held celebrations and various international events, including a film festival, exhibitions, scientific conferences, and youth forums. Now this honorable mission has been assigned to the city of Aktau, where similar events will be held. In addition, it is planned to hold a contest of akyns, a symposium of artists and sculptors, a festival of artisans, and historical and scientific conferences.
