In 2024, passenger traffic across the Caspian Sea in Azerbaijan increased significantly.

According to the press service of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), 28,392 passengers were transported last year, a 20% increase compared to 2023, when the number of passengers was 23,729. The most popular routes were Kuryk-Alyat, which carried 9,746 passengers, and Alyat-Kuryk, which recorded 14,834 passengers. There is also a growing interest in the Turkmenbashy-Alyat route, which was used by 1,220 passengers.

In 2023, 8,361 passengers traveled on the Kuryk-Alyat route, 485 on the Turkmenbashy-Alyat route, 13,191 on the Alyat-Kuryk route, 1,393 on the Alyat-Turkmenbashy route, 144 on the Aktau-Alyat route, and 155 on the Alyat-Aktau route.

These data indicate a growing interest in maritime transport and improved infrastructure in the region.
