Representatives of Turkmenistan held online meetings with colleagues from Russia and South Korea


An online meeting of the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.
Head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry Rashid Meredov and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk, who headed the representatives of Turkmenistan and Russia, respectively, discussed the situation and prospects for the development of Turkmen-Russian cooperation, trade and economic partnership, joint work in the industrial, financial and geological spheres.
During the online conversation, the parties did not bypass the issue of countering the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, which cannot be defeated without cooperation, exchange of experience and information between countries.
The meeting, which was also attended by a number of heads of ministries and departments of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation, completed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the field of electricity.
Also today, within the framework of the Central Asia-Korea Cooperation Forum, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov briefed his Korean colleagues on the position of his country in the field of ecology.
Turkmenistan welcomes the participation of the Korean side in a number of environmental projects, such as cooperation in the field of forestry and air quality monitoring. In addition, the chief Turkmen diplomat called on the representatives of the Republic of Korea to cooperate in solving the problem of the Aral Sea, which is of a global nature.
