President of Turkmenistan participates in the opening ceremony of the central mosque of the Balkan region


President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in the opening ceremony of the central mosque of the Balkan region on Wednesday. The mosque that can host 3,000 prayers was built in the city of Balkanabat, the administrative center of the country’s coastal region.
The complex is located on the territory of 14.5 hectares. It includes a special building for food donation ceremony, a hotel and other facilities. The surrounding territory has been developed by thousands of deciduous and coniferous trees.
The Head of State talked to the elders participating in the opening ceremony, revised the external and internal decoration of the mosque, where the Muslim relics, which were given to the Turkmen leader as a gift were demonstrated that day. Berdimuhamedov also presented the relic to new mosque – the canvas in the form of the Kaaba doors with verses from the Koran, which was given as a gift by the Saudi Ambassador.
On occasion of the opening ceremony of the mosque, the President gave sadaka – a charity dinner.
