President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the credentials of the new Japanese ambassador to Turkmenistan Yamamoto Hiroyuki. Emperor Naruhito of Japan, having approved the decision of the government of his country to accredit Hiroyuki as the Ambassador Extraordinaire and Plenipotentiary of the Land of the Rising Sun in Turkmenistan, recommended him as a talented and dedicated person, directed to carry out "an important mission in such a way as to earn the approval and respect of Your Excellency." During an audience with the head of state, the new ambassador stressed Japan's commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation across the entire spectrum. Berdimuhamedov also noted that Turkmenistan sees Japan as a reliable business partner and wished Yamamoto Hiroyuki success in diplomatic activity, which is designed to bring the interaction of the two countries to a qualitatively new level. The President and the Ambassador discussed great prospects for the development of mutually beneficial ties, noting the effectiveness of the work of the joint committees on economic cooperation and the format of the Dialogue "Central Asia + Japan". Large industrial enterprises built in Turkmenistan with the participation of Japanese companies were named as examples of successful partnerships. These include a plant for the production of ammonia and urea in Mary, a carbamide plant in Garabogaz, a polypropylene complex in Kiyanly, a gas chemical complex for the production of gasoline from "blue" fuel in Ahal, as well as a gas turbine power plant under construction in Lebap. Turkmenistan aims to increase trade with Japan, investment cooperation and the creation of joint high-tech enterprises. In this aspect, the current directions of the addition of efforts are noted - the fuel and energy complex, the transport and logistics sector and other areas. The parties attached great importance to the humanitarian dialogue, primarily in the scientific and educational sphere. The University of Engineering and Technology operates in Ashgabat, maintaining ties with leading Japanese universities. The Japanese language is studied not only in universities, but also in a number of secondary schools, which opens up new opportunities for the exchange of delegations and intensification of contacts.
