Turkmenistan involves Afghanistan in the international efforts on security issues


The high level meeting on peace issues, development and security took place within the limits of High-level online Conference on Afghanistan on November 23. The forum co-ordinated in Geneva, was held under the chairmanship of governments of Afghanistan and Finland together with the United Nations Organization. Turkmenistan was represented at the meeting by deputy chairman of the Cabinet, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov. The minister confirmed adherence of the Turkmen party to struggle against international terrorism, drug trafficking, transboundary criminality, having noted importance of the co-ordinated and strategic approach in this sphere in the light of activity of the Turkmen-Afghani commission on cooperation in the field of security. Rashid Meredov called for interaction activization at regional and global levels against growing risk of radical terrorism. From its part, Turkmenistan promotes involving of Afghanistan in the international efforts on solution of security issues at all levels. So, supporting the Inter-Afghani negotiations which are passing in Doha (Qatar), Turkmenistan considers the given process as the precondition for establishment of sustainable peace in Afghanistan. Head the Ministry of Foreign Affairs outlined three directions which the government of Turkmenistan considers as key integrated factors of stabilisation in Afghanistan: political mechanisms, involving of Afghanistan in economic relations and humanitarian assistance.
