New Ambassador of Guatemala accredited in Turkmenistan
On Tuesday, February 10, chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova received credentials from the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Guatemala (resident in Ankara) Eduardo Enrique Hernandez Recinos.
The head of the national Parliament, on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, congratulated the diplomat on his appointment to a responsible position, wishing him success in strengthening friendly relations between the two countries.
The Ambassador was familiarized with the main directions of the domestic and foreign policy of independent neutral Turkmenistan, with the structure and activities of the Mejlis, and its role in providing a legal framework for democratic reforms.
The parties exchanged views on the current level of political and diplomatic Turkmen-Guatemalan relations, noting the importance of joint efforts in strengthening peace and trust between countries and peoples, and expressing their readiness to cooperate in order to expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Guatemala was also received on this day at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, where he met with Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov.
The parties exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres, and the importance of establishing inter-parliamentary contacts was noted. The topic of the Guatemalan side's participation in the planned events within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust was touched upon.
