The UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty, in close collaboration with the UNESCO Office in Tashkent, the UNESCO International Center for Cultural Studies, and the Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs, has announced the launch of the "Youth as Researchers" initiative in Central Asia. This exciting project provides young people from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan with the opportunity to engage in research on critical issues affecting their communities.

As part of this initiative, nine youth research groups have been selected to focus on five key topics: Promoting the Development of Science; Peace and Intercultural Dialogue; Gender Equality; Youth Mental Health; and Ethics of Artificial Intelligence.

It is reported that over the next two months, these youth groups will undergo comprehensive training in research methodologies, particularly in the fields of social and humanities sciences. This training will equip them with the necessary tools to develop effective studies that will include recommendations on the selected topics. The results will be submitted to the national commissions and permanent delegations of the participating countries to UNESCO.

The "Youth as Researchers" program, which is part of UNESCO's global initiative, aims to enhance the capacity of young people to conduct research addressing the challenges they face. By equipping youth with research skills, the program strengthens their role as agents of change within their societies.
