On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Egypt, 152 historical artifacts were returned to Egypt from Turkey as an important diplomatic gesture, demonstrating mutual commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation.

According to Anadolu Agency, the ceremony dedicated to the return of the artifacts was attended by Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, and Minister of Antiquities and Tourism of Egypt, Sherif Fathy. During the event, both ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding to expand tourism cooperation between the two countries.

The returned ancient cultural heritage items of Egypt had been illegally acquired by a foreign citizen who visited Turkey in 1998. These included bronze, glass, and stone amulets, as well as fragments of necklaces, dating back to 2000 BC.

In his speech at the ceremony, Minister Ersoy emphasized that cultural artifacts are an integral part of the identity of the people who inhabit the lands to which they belong. He confirmed Turkey's firm commitment to cooperation in the fight against the illegal trafficking of cultural heritage.
