On January 27th, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, reviewed the draft of the state program for the Year of Environmental Protection and the "Green Economy" at a meeting. Within the framework of the new program, it is planned to increase the share of "green" energy to 26% by the end of the year. This was reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.

The program was developed taking into account public proposals: more than 11 million citizens familiarized themselves with the document, and over 100 initiatives were included in the final version. UN structures and other international organizations have expressed their readiness to participate in the implementation of the program.

Over the past three years, Uzbekistan has achieved significant success in the development of "green" energy: 16 large solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of 3.5 GW have been put into operation, and 35 small hydroelectric power plants have been built. The number of houses with solar panels has exceeded 60,000, and the annual greening of territories has become part of the "Yashil Makon" program.
