Today, the grand opening of the Indian Film Festival took place in the capital of Turkmenistan. The ceremony was held at the Ashgabat Cinema, where numerous Bollywood fans gathered. The Indian Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat, noted in her interview the popularity of Indian cinema in Central Asia and Turkmenistan:

"Since Indian films are very popular and enjoyed by everyone in Central Asia and Turkmenistan, we certainly very much hope in the future that Bollywood will come to beautiful Turkmenistan, and together we can cooperate in the film industry. It would be wonderful if we could make a joint film project in collaboration with Turkmenistan. There are very beautiful places here where you can shoot wonderful films".

The festival will delight viewers with daily film screenings until January 26th. Films will be shown in two sessions: daytime (at 11:00 or 13:00) and evening (at 19:00). Admission to the screenings is free.
