Today, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, hosted a scientific and educational conference "Admission of Turkmenistan as an observer to the World Trade Organization and its significance for the implementation of the "Program for external economic development of Turkmenistan for 2020-2025", with representatives of the Trade and Commerce Chamber of Turkmenistan, Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, as well as students and teachers of the Institute of International Relations (IRI). During the conference, the participants listened to the stories of representatives of the country's economic sector about the current investment processes and the preparation of the economy of Turkmenistan for joining the World Trade Organization, and also shared their vision of foreign economic cooperation with advanced foreign countries. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of making informed decisions in coordinating the next steps to improve the competitiveness of domestic producers, taking into account the further interest of Turkmenistan in joining the WTO. As the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Maksat Charyev noted: “Accession to the WTO is a long and painstaking process, its complexity lies in legal issues. It may take 10 or even 20 years. First of all, we are obliged to consider each criterion necessary for joining this organization, and then only take concrete measures. " After a meaningful conversation with representatives of the public sector, a student of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, a young ambassador of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Diyar Lomanov and a lecturer of the Department of International Economic Relations of this university, Geldi Berdiev, spoke. In their speeches, representatives of the IMO reflected the innovative experience of the Republic of Korea as a technically developed country with huge economic potential, and, therefore, the need for bilateral Turkmen-Korean cooperation in this area. As a result of the conference, students gained important experience necessary in their development as future specialists in the field of international economic relations, and representatives of state structures made their contribution to the education of modern Turkmen youth.
