To advance sustainable energy solutions globally, the Malaysian oil and gas company Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) and the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The document was signed at the CNPC International Cooperation Forum, held as part of the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE). The MoU was signed by PETRONAS President and CEO Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik and CNPC Chairman Dai Houliang.

This collaboration coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China and symbolizes the strong friendship between the two countries. The main objectives of the memorandum include strengthening cooperation in oil and gas exploration and production, as well as in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply chain. In addition, the parties intend to focus on innovative projects in advanced areas such as specialty chemicals, renewable energy, green hydrogen technologies, and carbon capture.

Creating an open platform for the exchange of knowledge and best practices will also be an important part of this collaboration, which will help accelerate the transition to sustainable energy in the region.
