On Friday, the head of state, signed a decision, approving a National Plan to counteract human trafficking in Turkmenistan for 2025–2029.

A document prepared by the Interdepartmental Commission for Combating Human Trafficking in Turkmenistan together with the International Organization for Migration and UN Office for Drug and Crime provides for the development of cooperation with authoritative international organizations and foreign countries.

In Turkmenistan, as you know, a strong legislative framework for counteraction on a systemic basis has been formed. At one time, the Law "On Combating Human Trafficking" was adopted, which determines the relevant organizational and legal basis, regulating social relations in this area.

The National Plan, prepared to strengthen the state system of guarantees, provision and protection of human rights and freedoms in Turkmenistan, is preventive in nature and contains comprehensive guidelines. The document clearly outlines target measures, deadlines for their implementation and relevant indicators.

Previously, the country implemented the relevant National Plans for the periods 2016-2018 and 2020-2022. And in the current period, covering the next five years, Turkmenistan declares its readiness to continue coordinated interaction with the world community in preventing such an acute threat to all mankind as human trafficking, contributing to international efforts to protect and promote human rights.

The bodies responsible for the implementation of the activities of this Plan are instructed to regularly monitor its implementation, according to the decree of the President of Turkmenistan.
