China introduces a national alternative to Bluetooth
China is launching its own wireless communication technology called Star Flash.
This initiative is part of the country's broader strategy to establish its own standards in the wireless communication sector.
Developed by the SparkLink alliance, which brings together major Chinese technology companies, Star Flash is poised to become a national alternative to Bluetooth, offering numerous advantages over existing technologies.
Based on elements of 5G networks, it supports simultaneous connections of multiple devices and features low power consumption, which positively impacts device battery life. Star Flash supports the transmission of uncompressed stereo audio (WAVE and AIFF), making it a promising solution for both consumer electronics and other applications.
The Chinese government plans to integrate the Star Flash standard into millions of household devices across the country by 2025. The company Konka has already begun implementing this technology, releasing a television compatible with a universal remote-control using Star Flash.
Recently, the China Video Industry Association (CVIA) approved a new communication standard for universal remote controls (URC).
This communication standard simplifies interaction with household devices. Universal remotes, using this technology, automatically identify the device a user wants to configure, establish a connection, and simplify data transfer, including streaming video from a set-top box to a screen.
