Apple will stop selling the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, and iPhone SE in Europe. These devices will be removed from the company’s online catalog and retail stores by December 28, but authorized retailers will still be able to sell them until stocks run out.

Apple has been forced to take this step in order to comply with an EU regulation, which requires all new smartphones with wired charging to use USB-C. The three models mentioned above were the last in Apple’s lineup to feature the Lightning port. If Apple had switched to USB-C earlier, the sale of these devices in Europe would not have been affected. For the same reason, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, and iPhone SE will also be discontinued in Switzerland, even earlier — by December 20.

Apple will also cease selling other Lightning-based devices, such as the Magic Keyboard without Touch ID. Interestingly, although the UK left the EU in 2020, Apple will also remove Lightning products from Northern Ireland.
