UN Security Council representative completes assessment visit to Turkmenistan
On December 13, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Natalia Gherman, Executive Director of the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate of the UN Security Council.
The main topic of discussion was the preliminary results of the assessment visit to Turkmenistan by the delegation of the Executive Directorate. The visit, which took place from December 9 to 13, was aimed at assessing Turkmenistan's implementation of UN Security Council resolutions related to the fight against terrorism, as well as analyzing progress on the recommendations made during the previous visit in November 2017.
The Foreign Minister stressed Turkmenistan's commitment to international obligations to combat terrorism and expressed readiness to continue cooperation with the UN to enhance the effectiveness of these efforts. The meeting noted the importance of Turkmenistan's contribution to regional security and emphasized the constructive nature of the interaction.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss further steps in strengthening counter-terrorism mechanisms and implementing international norms in this area.
