Officials from the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan announced their intention to build a gas power station near the industrial zone in the city of Herat, using the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline gas. - In the coming months, the implementation of the Afghan section of the TAPI project will start. The first stage envisages the use of gas in the industrial town of Herat, after which it will go to residential buildings, - said the head of the department Ziyaullak Popal. According to a member of Herat’s Provincial Council Vakil Ahmad Kurkhi, the main problem for plant owners is low capacity, and the TAPI project is the solution to this problem. Representative of Gerat Governor Jilani Farhad assured that there are no obstacles to the implementation of the TAPI project, as the necessary steps have been taken, including the recruitment of appropriate personnel, etc. The Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India pipeline project can annually transport up to 33 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Its length is 1,800 km, of which 147 km will pass through Turkmenistan, 735 km through the Afghan provinces of Farah and Helmand, 800 km through Pakistan and from there to India.Aijahan ATABALLYEVA
