The Society of the Blind and Deaf of Turkmenistan creates a platform for boundless creativity
The Society of the Blind and Deaf of Turkmenistan (SBDT) continues to actively fulfill its mission by supporting individuals with visual and hearing impairments through creativity, education, and cultural initiatives. A recent concert held at the "Turkmenistan" Cinema and Concert Hall served as a vivid example of this dedication.
This event, dedicated to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, highlighted the vital work of the SBDT. The concert was organized with the support of the Delegation of the European Union to Turkmenistan and the Economic Society “Yash Yardamchy.” The evening began with speeches by M.K. Mammetgeldiyev, Chairman of the Central Board of the SBDT, and Laura Berzina, a representative of the EU Delegation, who emphasized the importance of equal opportunities and cultural inclusion.
Each year, the SBDT marks this significant day with events that continually impress with their scale and content. The concert's participants, including performers with visual and hearing impairments, spent months preparing for this special performance. Their talent and determination to express themselves through art inspire and prove that creativity knows no boundaries.
The program featured musical and dance performances, heartfelt speeches, and national songs that received thunderous applause. The stage was graced by both seasoned artists and young debutants, showcasing the richness of Turkmen culture and the resilience of the human spirit.
The event brought together representatives from all regions of Turkmenistan, diplomatic corps, UN agencies, and numerous residents and guests of the capital. After the concert, participants were presented with commemorative gifts from the Trade Unions Organization of Turkmenistan and the Youth Organization named after Magtymguly.
Projects like these demonstrate how creativity unites people. The SBDT not only organizes cultural events but also inspires society to support and integrate individuals with disabilities. It reminds us all that with encouragement and inclusivity, everyone’s potential can be realized.
