President of Russia Vladimir Putin has ordered the creation of a working group to develop the “North-South” International Transport Corridor.

According to a corresponding document published on the official legal information portal, the composition of the group has also been approved.

The working group includes five people: Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev, who will head the group, Russian Transport Minister Roman Starovoit, Presidential Adviser Igor Levitin, Russian Railways CEO Oleg Belozerov, and Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia Dmitry Zverev. Dmitry Zverev has been appointed as the responsible secretary of the working group.

Vladimir Putin, by his decree, appointed Vitaly Savelyev as the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the development of the “North-South” Transport Corridor.

The North-South Transport Corridor is a 7,200 km multimodal route from St. Petersburg to the Indian port of Mumbai and provides for the use of rail, sea, and river transport.

It is expected that by 2030, the cargo traffic along the corridor will exceed 40 million tons.
