Teams from Turkmenistan participate in the international short film competition

Seven teams from Turkmenistan are participating in the 48 Hour Film Race, a short film competition held among professionals and amateurs of cinema from Central Asian countries. This year, the number of contestants from Turkmenistan has become a record, the organizers reported on their Instagram account.
As part of the competition, the teams had to write a script, shoot and edit a four-minute short film in 48 hours. This stage took place on September 26-27 this year. The winners of the competition will be announced in December, and their work will be published on the project's website.
The short films of Turkmen authors presented to the jury are titled “Revelation”, “Creator”, “Stages”, “We Fulfill Dreams”, “Extinguished Star”, “Guido” and “Dream”. Five works were sent from Ashgabat, and two others were sent by participants from Turkmenabat and Turkmenbashi.
In total, about 300 works from all countries of Central Asia were sent to the competition. Three finalists will receive a prize for photography and video equipment from Sony, as well as a scholarship for 15 weeks of online training at an American film school in such areas as filmmaking, screenwriting, production, and others.
Within the framework of the competition, the participants had to comply with the conditions of the creative task, according to which the presence of four elements is required in the film: a man in a mask, a flag, a flower and the phrase "coffee or tea?" Compliance with these conditions is proof that the short film was shot and edited exactly during the 48-hour period when the competition was held.
For the fifth year in a row, the 48 Hour Film Race has been organized by the US Embassy in Kazakhstan and serves as a platform for finding and encouraging talented teams from Central Asia. This year, the New York Film Academy – a well-known part of the film industry where the winners of the competition will be trained – was a partner of the competition
