These are the teams’ first defeats this season, where both favorites dominated possession but lost shots on target.
Since April 2003, there have been no synchronous defeats of the Spanish grandees before the El Clásico. Then, Barcelona lost a home match to Deportivo 2:4, and Real lost to Sociedad away with the same score.

El Clásico will be held at the Camp Nou a week later, on Saturday, October 24.
