Visa-free regime for Iranian tour groups will come into force in Russia
In Russia, the visa-free regime for Iranian tourist groups will come into force in the near future. During a weekly press conference, Russian Foreign Ministry official spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said this in response to a question of an IRNA reporter. “An Agreement on visa-free group tourist trips between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran was signed on March 28, 2017 in Moscow by the Foreign Ministers of the two countries,” said she. “The Agreement provides for mutual visa-free travel of Russian and Iranian citizens for tourist purposes as part of organized groups of 5 to 50 people for the period up to 15 days. According to paragraph 2 of article 4, the Russian Federal Tourism Agency is the coordinating body responsible for implementing its provisions,” added she. “Currently, this agency, together with its Iranian partners, is developing a mechanism for implementing the arrangements laid down in the Agreement. We hope that this work will be completed as soon as possible and the Agreement will come into force,” said Ms. Zakharova. “We proceed from the premise that the decision to start applying the Agreement will be made taking into account the sanitary and epidemiological situation in Russia and Iran and restrictions related to countering the spread of a new coronavirus infection,” concluded she.
