Ashgabat as a center of modernization and sustainable development: partner proposals

During the session on modern trends in architecture and urban development at the CIET 2024 conference, Vladimir Petruk, Managing Director of the Ukrainian company "Interbudmontazh", noted the historical significance of Ashgabat as a key hub at the intersection of major trade routes. Emphasizing that Ashgabat is the pearl of Central Asia, he focused on its role as the largest administrative, political, transport and cultural center of the country.
Petruk noted the importance of improvement and landscaping, which contribute to the creation of a harmonious appearance of the capital. All constructed objects, from administrative buildings to engineering structures, meet international standards, which is the result of the government's work to turn Ashgabat into a clean and attractive city.
During his speech, Petruk also touched upon the issues of infrastructure development and the need to use the latest technologies in construction. He mentioned the project to lower the groundwater level, which has been implemented by the company he represents since 2001, and emphasized its importance for improving the environmental situation in the city.

"Our company is also actively involved in offering solutions to improve water supply and sanitation in other regions of the country," he said. In particular, "Interbudmontazh" proposed a project to reconstruct irrigation networks with a digital control system for regulating and monitoring water volumes and building storage reservoirs, with a full range of hydraulic structures that will help improve water supply in agricultural regions, which will have a positive impact on the development of infrastructure and environmental protection on the economic and environmental life of the city and the region.
Smart and environmentally friendly cities require the implementation of high-speed ecological transport projects such as the metro.
The metro is ahead of all types of transport in the development of innovative technologies, environmental friendliness and efficiency in comparison with any other type of urban passenger transport, Petruk continued.

He recalled that back in February 2014, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, during his visit to the Interbudmontazh CA, proposed considering the issue of building a metro in Ashgabat. Since Interbutmontazh has extensive experience in underground construction, the company's management decided to take up the project development in detail.
Petruk noted that the Japanese company Sumitomo, the Japanese Metro Association and the German consulting group K2, which worked out the engineering capabilities of the metro in the seismological zone, were involved in developing the idea and technological part of the project. According to the developers, the Ashgabat metro should become a convenient, environmentally friendly transport solution and in the future will connect the capital with the smart city of Arkadag, Geokdepe in the west and Anau in the east.
He expressed hope for the continuation of fruitful cooperation with Turkmenistan and the readiness of the Interbudmontazh company to contribute to the development of the country's infrastructure. "We will definitely justify this trust!" - Vladimir Petruk summed up.
