On October 30-31, the XXI meeting of the International Council for Business Cooperation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Caspian Sea region "Business Caspian" is taking place in Astrakhan.

On Wednesday, the Consul of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan, Gadam Ilamanov, spoke at the plenary session titled "Business Caspian - Experience and Prospects for Effective Partnership", emphasizing that Turkmenistan, as one of the key countries in the Caspian region, consistently advocates for comprehensive and mutually beneficial cooperation among the coastal states.

The event was attended by the Governor of the Astrakhan region Igor Babushkin, the Consul of the Islamic Republic of Iran, representatives of chambers of commerce and industry, state and regional executive and legislative authorities of the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, experts, scientists and political scientists, leaders of public organizations of the Caspian Sea countries.

During the thematic sections, the participants discussed the issues of comprehensive expansion of cooperation between the countries of the Caspian region in the context of the development of the international transport corridor “North-South”, in particular, the issues of modernization of port infrastructure, as well as the development of tourism, trade and economic relations, etc.

The head of the Astrakhan Oblast noted that the region is actively developing its transport and logistics infrastructure and becoming an important transit center for commodity exchange. In particular, this is facilitated by the Caspian cluster, which combines special port and economic zones, where several large residents are already successfully operating.

"For instance, since last year, a Russian-Turkmen company has been implementing a project for the construction of a milling complex. Synchronizing the work of government authorities with the business community is very important for expanding logistics chains and developing cooperation", Babushkin wrote on his social media pages.
