Kazakhstan plans to increase grain supplies to Afghanistan via Turkmenistan
The state-owned company of Kazakhstan, “Prodcorporatsia”, in light of the record high harvest in the country, is actively working to realize its export potential. Negotiations have been held and work has begun on introducing Kazakh grain to the Egyptian market, and it is planned to increase supplies to Afghanistan and send corn to Iran, the APK News agency reports.
The “Prodcorporatsia” noted that the export potential of Kazakh grain is estimated at 12 million tons. In particular, Kazakhstan plans to increase grain supplies to the western part of Afghanistan via Turkmenistan.
The first contracts are planned to be concluded by “Prodcorporatsia” at the upcoming Kazakh-Afghan forum in Almaty at the end of October. The price is currently being discussed.
It is also reported that in order to accelerate grain exports and return traditional and new markets, it is proposed to partially subsidize transportation costs for exports.
