TAPI and TAP projects were discussed at meetings in Islamabad
On Wednesday, October 16, during his visit to Islamabad, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari.
During the meeting, a wide range of issues of Turkmen-Pakistani cooperation in the context of implementing previously reached agreements and promising plans for the future were discussed. In the context of developing economic partnership, a solid potential for increasing trade turnover and diversifying mutually beneficial ties was noted.
Particular attention was paid to energy and transport, the importance of strengthening joint activities in the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline projects, and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission line were emphasized.
The parties discussed the preparation of bilateral documents aimed at implementing joint projects in the energy and transport sectors, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
The TAPI and TAP projects were also discussed at a meeting between Rashid Meredov and Pakistan's Federal Minister for Energy Musadiq Masood Malik. They emphasized the strategic importance of large-scale projects in strengthening regional ties, promoting economic growth and meeting the energy needs of the participating countries.
It was noted that the TAP power transmission line and the TAPI gas pipeline will play a significant role in meeting Pakistan's industrial needs for electricity. It was proposed to develop a Roadmap for joint actions in the energy sector.
