American teachers of music performed together with TNC students

The capital musical and Drama Theater named after Makhtumkuli hosted a pre-New Year concert of musicians from the USA and students of the Turkmen National Conservatory. Peter Thoresen, known for his roles in the Chicago Opera, the opera ensemble “Dell 'ArteOpera” and the American Opera House has been among the American teachers of music, who shone on the stage today. His students regularly perform in plays on Broadway, record songs for BroadwayRecords and Columbialabels. Derek Bekvold is a versatile musician and composer who performed throughout North America, in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East, captivated the Ashgabat public. Derek recently completed a nine-month academic exchange program for Fulbright-Nehru in New Delhi, India, studying the performance on Tabla - traditional Indian drums. Avery Waite is a cellist, teacher, composer, conductor and art critic. He also often performs with concerts in Europe, Asia and North America. Avery is one of the main performers in the popular television program “Sesame Street”.Larisa FOMINA
Enthusiastic applause of the audience was deserved by violist Kim Nguyen May, a graduate of the Julliard Conservatory. It is a dynamic and charismatic performer of music of different styles, ranging from baroque to modern genres. She is a laureate of many awards and prizes, including a prize in the competition of the French Union of Artist Musicians.
This is the fourth visit of musicians from America to Turkmenistan, starting in 2015. This time the musicians added to the collection of the museum of musical instruments in the National Conservatory, bringing gifts with them. The guests conducted a number of lessons and master classes for TNC students. The result of these sessions was a magnificent joint performance.
The concerts featured works by Turkmen and foreign composers performed by the symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra, orchestra of wind instruments, as well as ensembles of violoncellists, violinists and violists.
The performance of the choir and soloists accompanied by the orchestra was perfect. Many famous classical Christmas melodies were performed in the new arrangement.
