Scientists have seen the relationship between global warming and migration
If the climate increases at the same rate as now, the number of migrants to the European continent may increase several times by the beginning of the next century. This is stated in the work of Wolfram Schlenker of Columbia University in New York, published in the scientific publication Science. Science is concerned about the emergence of “climate refugees” and believes that the climate influences the mass migration of people at present, as well as in the remote past. The study of climate changes on the European continent in antiquity and the Middle Ages shows that global changes in this area have caused a prolonged Byzantine crisis in the 7-8 centuries of our era and an end to the invasion of the Mongols to the West in the middle of the 13th century. Scientists believe that climate change could have more devastating consequences, such as the death of Maya civilizations and city-states on the Indian subcontinent. To clarify the situation, the scientists studied the applications of migrants from over 100 countries of the world, submitted for moving to Europe, and compared them with temperature changes in 2000-2014. The results of the research show that the number of such appeals increased much when typical summer temperatures exceeded 20 degrees Celsius, the most favorable for human life. Scientists believe that this study is very important for politicians, as it shows that global climate changes change the situation not only in one particular state, but can increase migration flows on a global scale.
