Chinese Ambassador to Turkmenistan: A Look at China Through Keyword (26th Issue)
The 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FCAC) Summit was successfully held in Beijing from September 4 to 6. During the summit, China and Africa, under the theme of “Joining Forces to Advance Modernization to Build a High-Level China-Africa Community with a Shared Future,” reviewed and summarized the development of China-Africa friendship, highly appreciated the progress in implementing the FCAC outcomes, reached a clear political consensus on strengthening multifaceted China-Africa cooperation, and unanimously adopted two important documents – the Beijing Declaration and the Action Plan.
As the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Turkmenistan, I am ready to present to dear friends of Turkmenistan the main results and important agreements reached during the summit.
Keyword 1: Full-coverage strategic partnership
China has achieved full-coverage strategic partnership with African countries that have established diplomatic relations with China. During the summit, China established or upgraded strategic partnerships with a total of 30 countries. Standing shoulder to shoulder with 53 African strategic partners, China will certainly play a greater role in improving the well-being of the Chinese and African people and maintaining world peace and stability.
Keyword 2: Raising the overall status of relations to a new level
The overall status of China-Africa relations has been elevated to that of an all-weather community with a shared future for the new era. Thanks to unremitting efforts over the past nearly 70 years, China-Africa relations are enjoying their best period in history. From a new-type partnership to a comprehensive strategic partnership and an all-weather community with a shared future for the new era, China-Africa relations have been steadily elevated in level, with clearer status and richer content, demonstrating the firm will of the 2.8 billion Chinese and African people to overcome all obstacles and forge ahead hand in hand, opening a new chapter in the great cause of building a community with a shared future for mankind.
Keyword 3: Identifying suggestions for jointly advancing modernization
The summit put forward six major proposals for jointly advancing the modernization of China and Africa. President Xi Jinping proposed that China and Africa should pursue a modernization that is fair, rational, open, and mutually beneficial, with the spirit of “people first,” diverse, inclusive, green, and based on peace and security, which has received broad support from African leaders, formed a political consensus between China and Africa, and marked a deepening understanding of the laws of modernization. This will have a significant and far-reaching impact on guiding the Global South in accelerating modernization, as well as advancing modernization in the world as a whole.
Keyword 4: Developing a roadmap for future cooperation
The summit developed a roadmap for China-Africa cooperation for the next stage. The two sides adopted the Beijing Declaration and Action Plan to strengthen China-Africa cooperation over the next three years. President Xi Jinping announced that over the next three years, China will jointly implement 10 major action plans for partnership with the African side to jointly advance modernization, namely: sharing civilizations, prospering trade, industrial chain cooperation, connectivity, development cooperation, health, people-centered agricultural development, cultural and humanitarian exchanges, green development, and building a security partnership.
Keyword 5: Building a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity
During the summit, China and Africa also made strategic adjustments on the international situation and global governance, agreed to firmly support each other on issues concerning core interests, safeguard the common interests of developing countries, and promote international justice; agreed to implement genuine multilateralism, promote the implementation of the three major global initiatives, advocate for an equitable and orderly multipolarity and an inclusive and inclusive economic globalization; agreed to eliminate “small courtyards and high walls,” oppose discrimination and prejudice, correct historical injustices, and advance the cause of modernization and development for the benefit of all people.
The summit sent a clear message of China and Africa's commitment to common development, and demonstrated the "Global South's" firm belief in solidarity and cooperation. The "China-Africa Summit Week" sparked the "Southern Moment" for the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
