KAMAZ offers to open a production facility in Turkmenistan, Marat Garifullin, regional director of KAMAZ Foreign Trade Company JSC, said at a meeting of the joint Turkmen-Tatarstan working group on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation, which was held in Kazan on Tuesday, August 27.
The issue is about creating a new facility in Turkmenistan (where KAMAZ service centers already operate) to begin manufacturing equipment. According to Garifullin, various options for organizing such production are being considered, and the Tatarstan side proposes creating it under the name of a local brand.
Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Serdar Jorayev welcomed this proposal, noting that KAMAZ products are very widely represented on the Turkmen market, so the establishment of their production in Turkmenistan is being discussed, and possibly in the format of a joint venture.
Garifullin also said that he expected that by the end of 2024, KAMAZ deliveries to Turkmenistan would exceed 100 units of equipment intended for the private sector, noting that the contract was being developed and its technical part was being agreed upon.
The 9th meeting of the Turkmen-Tatarstan working group on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation was held in Kazan on Tuesday under the leadership of co-chairs - Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Serdar Jorayev and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan Oleg Korobchenko.
The parties discussed issues on the agenda of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, oil and gas and industrial sectors, in the field of communications and information technology, in agriculture and environmental protection, in science and education, in the medical segment, and in such aspects as culture, tourism, sports and youth policy.
In conclusion, the parties agreed to hold the tenth meeting of the Turkmen-Tatarstan working group on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation in 2025 in Ashgabat.
