Roscosmos will send tourists to the ISS
JSC "Glavkosmos", a subsidiary of the state corporation Roscosmos, announced the launch of a program of commercial manned flights to the International Space Station (ISS).
The first tourist flight under this program is planned for the third and fourth quarters of next year. Individuals will have a unique opportunity to spend 10 days on board the ISS, having undergone preliminary full-fledged astronaut training.
Preparation of participants for the flight will last about 10 months, half of which will be devoted to intensive training at the Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City, located in the Moscow region.
The training program includes both an initial medical examination and stress tests, as well as training in all necessary skills. Training will be held in English or Russian.
The launch will be carried out from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on the Soyuz MS spacecraft. The ship has two seats for tourists and one for a professional astronaut.
The flight to the International Space Station will take about 3 hours. Flight participants will be able to complete planned tasks, take photos and videos, and enjoy unique views of the Earth from space. After returning, there will be a week-long post-flight rehabilitation also in Star City.
