On Friday, July 26, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov presented Faisal Muhammad Sabir with a document on his accreditation in Turkmenistan as the Chargé d'Affaires of Afghanistan.

The Afghan diplomat has been representing his country in Ashgabat for several years, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the practical implementation of large-scale energy, transport and infrastructure international projects implemented with the participation of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.

First of all, this is the project of the transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI), the construction of power transmission lines and fiber-optic communication lines along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) route, as well as the construction of railways from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, the diplomatic department added.

On Thursday, the Afghan Foreign Ministry announced that construction of the pipeline would soon begin in Afghanistan. In a post on X, the ministry's press office shared a photo of a meeting between Turkmen Ambassador Hoja Ovezov and Amir Khan Muttaqi, who confirmed that the project is a priority for the Afghan government. The Ambassador's latest meeting (the second this month) with the acting Afghan Foreign Minister followed the talks between Turkmenistan and Pakistan in Islamabad, where an agreement was reached to advance the TAPI project.
